Sunken Hot Tub
Case Studies
Client Overview
Our client, a homeowner in Surrey, approached Urban Cedar with a desire to incorporate one of our modern cedar hot tubs into their garden renovation project. They wished to create an area that would see the hot tub partially recessed into the patio for a neat, built-in look that would seamlessly blend with the natural environment.
The Challenge
The client wanted the hot tub to appear as if it belonged to the garden landscape, while still allowing simple access to the mechanics and having proper ventilation, drainage, and maintenance clearance. A common mistake with sunken installations is building the surrounding area too tight to the hot tub or not allowing enough room for servicing. Issues that will cause long-term problems and costly modifications.
Our Approach
At Urban Cedar, we know that a successful hot tub install starts well before delivery day. To ensure a smooth process, we engaged the client and their contractors from the design stage onward.
Planning
We sent a detailed technical plan for the client showing the necessary clearance along with room needed for the access panel incase of future maintenance.
Coordination with Client
Our team liaised directly with the client and their contractors in order to ensure all was lined up and ready for the day of installation, getting regular updates from the client during the build up to the installation.
Installation & Final Setup
With the foundation and patio established, our specialist installation team delivered and installed the hot tub into the hole ensuring that they did not damage the surrounding retaining wall or patio. The electrical connection were completed by a qualified electrician, and we conducted a full test and commissioning to ensure all was operating flawlessly, before giving the client a full demonstration.

The finished project delivered exactly what the client envisioned, a luxury, modern hot tub area that blended seamlessly into the garden design. The sunken installation achieved:
